6 Video Game Easter Eggs You May Have Missed
Gaming fans can quickly become obsessed with a game and will want to learn everything about it. This could be why finding easter eggs in games is such a popular pastime in the gaming community. On TikTok there are currently 86.7m views of videos using the hashtag #gamingeastereggs, demonstrating just how popular these details are amongst gamers.
Electronic retailer Currys has teamed up with pop culture expert, Hunter Clark, known for his TikTok channel Hidden Game Details, to reveal six amazing popular video games easter eggs– some of which were released in late 2022 meaning gamers may not have spotted them yet!
Feel The Wrath of Thor in God of War: Ragnarök
The Easter egg in God of War: Ragnarök happens at the beginning of the game. And you can make a God angry, he spits out a tooth and every time you revisit that location, you’ll still be able to find the tooth.
Or when you continuously hit the chime to summon Ratatoskr, your handy sidekick, you’ll provoke him to say a funny quip, but one ring too many, and he will have an incredibly angry outburst. This is something that you would only be able to spot if you had hit the chimes multiple times on purpose after the discovery.
Spot Your Own Joy-Cons in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet hidden gaming detail goes into the “did you notice that?” category. Game developers slipped in a nice little detail tailored to each player using Nintendo Switch.
In the games’ metaverse, when you enter your bedroom, Nintendo Switch and its Joy-Cons match the colours of the actual console you’re playing on.
Make Your Mark on the Track as Mario in Mario Kart Deluxe 8
A little cute hidden detail can be found in Mario Kart Deluxe 8 – an imprint of Mario’s ‘M’ is left on the track as he drives. It is visible if you zoom in on Mario’s tire tread in the main menu, but it can also be spotted in the game when Mario is driving around.
Experience a Bit of the Spider-Verse in Fortnite
Undoubtedly, one of the world’s most popular games both to play and watch streamed is Fortnite. This is thanks to the numerous characters, skins and scenarios which offer plenty of hidden gems.
One hidden detail you can find in Fortnite is when you opt to play Ghost Spider from Into the Spider-Verse. When you try out an acrobatic emote of any skin different from hers, it will be performed in the same frame rate as the rest of the game. But, if her original skin is used, the emote speed drops to 12 frames per second. This is deliberate, making the moves look more like they do in the movie.
Spot The ‘The Crystal Ship’ in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II has a hidden gaming detail which is a homage to the iconic show ‘Breaking Bad’.
On the map of Santa Seña, you’ll find an RV that has duct tape covering up bullet holes.
The RV looks the same as Walt and Jesse’s RV, from the episode where it gets shot, and they use duct tape to cover the holes just like they do in the show. Only seriously dedicated fans of the show would be able to spot that!
The Obvious Professional in Grand Theft Auto V
This popular game plays with the character’s expertise – and the line is so thin one can barely spot it. But once revealed, you will always see it.
In GTA V Trevor and Franklin aim differently down the sites compared to Michael. Trevor and Franklin fire down the sites from hips and leave the stack unfolded while Michael aims from his face and unfolds the stack to show he’s more of a professional.
The Feel-Good Side of Finding New Things
Playing games is a pleasure and can provide a few surprising mental health benefits – when we play, the feel-good neurotransmitter dopamine is released in our system. This pleasure increases when we find a hidden treasure – something special left in the game for those truly dedicated gamers.
