Take the strain out of a business trip to Spain

For the uninitiated, business trips to somewhere like Spain always sound like a glamourous prospect. But the truth is that it’s often much harder work than staying back in the office and they’re definitely no vacation.

On a business trip you’re rushing from meeting to meeting, often in unbearably hot weather, especially in somewhere like Spain. You have targets and objectives that you have to meet, plus you’re away from the family too.

But there are some of the many ways to minimise the hassle and strain by planning ahead – here are a few ideas for a business trip to Spain.

Travel light

Most business trips only last for a few days so this definitely acts in your favour when it comes to traveling light. The fact that the weather is likely to be warm, at least outside of winter months, also means that fewer, lighter clothes will be the order of the day. But the real benefit of it all is that you should be able to fit everything into a cabin bag – and that’s going to mean there’s no hanging about round a luggage carousel waiting for your suitcase to, hopefully, appear.

Hire a car

Efficiency is also key in the way that you get from meeting to meeting. Using public transport and taxis is fine but a far more time-saving method, if you’re visiting Southern Spain, is to rely on your own transport. When it comes to car hire Malaga is a good place to pick up a vehicle, and arranging everything beforehand is simple online. If there’s more than one of you on the trip this is not only a very cost-effective way to get about, you can also share the driving.

Get the tech right

You want to be able to ensure that all your business tools like phones and laptops are always charged up and ready to use. So a plug adaptor or two is essential if you don’t want to be calling down to hotel reception to help you out. For phones it’s also a good idea to pack a portable charger so you can be confident that a dead smartphone won’t be an issue even if you spent the whole day out on the road.

Remember some “me” time

To make the most of your trip it’s important to relax a little too. So set aside some time to do things like enjoying a good meal or two or visiting some of the interesting places in the region. It’s also important to remember the importance of staying healthy while you travel if you want to make the most of your trip.

Don’t forget the family

Finally, and most importantly, if you have a family, set a time each evening to Skype or Facetime with them just to keep in touch with what’s happening at home. When you feel reassured that everything’s OK without you, you’ll be in a better frame of mind to do business.

So, hopefully, these tips have put you in a better position to make the most of your next Spanish business trip, and to make just that little bit more enjoyable too.
